aryballos, noun: a flask or bottle that has a short neck, single handle, small orifice with a flaring lip, and globular body often elaborately decorated and that is used for holding oils or ointments.

It contains 300ml of Corinto Extra Virgin Olive Oil, our single varietal extra virgin olive oil. Made from handpicked Manaki olives, which are then cold-extracted to preserve their natural properties, it is distinguished by a light taste balanced with notes of blossoms and citrus fruits. Its low acidity allows for a smooth aftertaste and leaves an essence of spice.

During the 7th century B.C., the land of Corinth was renowned for its olive oil production, as well as its pottery workshops, which were the most prolific ones in Ancient Greece. There, countless aryballoi were created, their shapes and decoration perfected over time. Admired for their precise and practical design, as well as their ability to contain and preserve perfumed oils, proto corinthian aryballoi were used by women, but also notably by male athletes, who applied the olive oil contained in them on their bodies before fighting. Soon, aryballoi traveled across the trade routes of the Archaic period, making this powerful city-state’s pottery artistry known outside its walls.

An Ode to Craftsmanship
As a small token of appreciation for their legacy, we decided to follow in the footsteps of the ancient Corinthian pottery masters. Thus, each Special Edition Aryballos bottle is handmade and each step of its creation, from its design to the finishing touches, involves a team of contemporary and highly skilled artisans. Like its predecessor, each Special Edition Aryballos is made not only to serve as a design object, but to simultaneously preserve the scent, taste, and properties of the Manaki variety of Corinto extra virgin olive oil.

Functional Design
The lip of every Aryballos bottle is designed to offer a natural channel through which olive oil can flow. It can also be refilled easily, with minimum danger of spilling because there are no additional elements or materials employed in its lip or neck.

Each ceramic special edition Corinto Organic Extra Virgin olive oil bottle is handmade and refillable. It is the result of a synergy between past and present; a team of contemporary and highly skilled artisans breathing new life into an object from the depths of history.

Corinto Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be used for cooking and finishing, elevating every dish: from the simplest – as a dip for toasted bread or a basis for dressing- to the most complex gourmet creations. Salads, grilled fish, poultry, red meat, pasta or vegetables simply taste better with a few drops of Corinto!
